When it comes to social marketing (which is in my opinion the best format), there are a few things the can can really hinder your success.
When you introduce yourself to someone, don't immediately pitch your business to him/her. faux pas. They'll think "Wow. what a jerk".
Leave your ego outside. Don't start talking about your success. They'll think "Wow. What a rich jerk". Major faux pas.
Don't start telling them how to do business. Let them ask you. After all we were all new to this at some time or another.
When they finally ask (and they will) what it is you do, be able to tell them. Be able to answer every question known to man about your business and how to reference it at the drop of a hat. After all, if you're gonna sell something you have to know what is and what it can do.
Keep in touch with your contacts and be their friends offline as well as on. People will work with people they know.
I hope these few simple tips help. For more tips (and there are many), I suggest for starters:
These things sound simple, but when you want to make money they can sometimes be forgotten very easily. Keep them in mind. For more references or practice, give me a call. What can I say? I'm a friendly guy. : ) Cheers!
